We won CUE!

The Cambridge University Entrepeneurs competition

· Blog

Following the good news that we’ll be working alongside SIDN Funds to do a DIY-AI kit (click here to read more), we’re very happy to announce ULTRA IoT also won a competition by the Cambridge University Entrepeneurs (CUE)!

As Antoine Zenie, one of our founders, is a Cambridge alumnus, we had the opportunity to participate in this competition where students, researchers and alumni pitched to receive a £10K grant in three categories: Science and Technology, Social Enterprise and Software.

The purpose of our application was to continue the development of our hardware and software platform IoT solutions we used in projects for smart cities, transport and telecom operators in the UK and the Netherlands (get to know our projects).

Some examples of projects where we already demonstrated our capabilities include fresh asset delivery monitoring for PostNL, air pollution based dynamic traffic management for TfGM and localisation and quantification of air pollution sources for Marineterrein & Topsektor Logistiek. In each of these projects, the modular nature of our product allowed us to quickly deliver customised solution.

As such, we were put in the Software category, where we were one of the finalists alongside Exantai, MedicBank, logobot and LEAF LPG. Each company was invited to pitch in front of the judging panel, which was made up of a wide range of experienced entrepreneurs, academics and investors.

Our pitch focused on improving our software and platform offerings, in order to visualise all the data gathered from our devices and generate insights from it. The Judges were impressed by how much we have achieved in such a short period and our current traction.

Despite the strong competition, ULTRA IoT won the Software category! A hugely promising result which confirms not only the expertise of the ULTRA IoT Team but also the value of the solutions we are offering.
